Welcome to Phoenix Social Enterprise. We are a social enterprise with a clear business purpose – to help individuals, communities and economies progress and grow. We wish all our customers, friends and associates a very happy and successful 2013.
Babs Williams, Phoenix’s Director and an expert in community development, capacity building and overseas working says:
Our 2013 interns are beginning to arrive in France, Italy and Spain. Our next batch will be leaving in April for a variety of European locations. We are also recruiting paid volunteers to start working as teachers in Georgia beside the Black Sea from September 2013. We continue our work to help strengthen communities and provide work opportunities in the Bristol area.
The past two years have seen us move from developing organisations, to empowering individuals through opportunities to work abroad and volunteer overseas.

Travel abroad
Phoenix offers programmes which are fun and will develop you personally and professionally no matter what your background.
Programmes offer a rich experience of learning about new cultures and developing new skills.
It’s a very exciting time to take up our opportunities to work in Georgia. On 2 October 2012 its people elected a new administration, proof that democracy is vibrant there. Whether you go there or opt for France, Italy or Spain, you will feel rewarded and gain valuable life skills. Check out BBC 2′s latest ‘most dangerous roads’ episode here, where two journalists recently drove through Georgia.
Phoenix welcomes applications from people from BME communities and all other backgrounds

Partnership
We work closely with key organisations, to promote opportunity and build confidence in people of all ages and backgrounds. Look at the following link to see an example of job opportunities we have promoted on behalf of our partners. Key partners include Learning Partnership West and the NHS.
The Bristol Tbilisi Association
Our programme to recruit people to teach in Georgia, shares many aims with the Bristol Tbilisi Association which stemmed directly from the twinning arrangement between Bristol and the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. Since 1988, Bristol and Tbilisi have enjoyed close links and we at Phoenix, through our Teach & Learn with Georgia Programme, are proud to be associated with the cultural exchanges taking place between the UK and Georgia. To learn more about the Bristol Tbilisi Association, go to http://www.bristoltbilisi.org/

In 2011 we evolved from the Black Development Agency (BDA) Limited. Our roots are firmly embedded in supporting disadvantaged groups and communities, tackling social exclusion: increasing knowledge of civil rights, promoting civic engagement and creating employment and educational opportunities. On 24 May 2012, our membership formally voted to adopt our new name, logo, colours and corporate identity.
